DVD1088 Hindeloopen Inspiration- Paint It Simply

Every few years I return to the Hindeloopen style to paint it as I would do today. Hindeloopen is a very old style. Created in the Mannerism period of the Netherlands. The style has never undergone the growth through change as all other styles in Europe, except under the reign of Napoleon where he forced the painters to change. The historical style is so beautiful and one of the first ones I learn to draw in 1984. I like to paint it every few years "letting go" to paint it as I would today. Here are a few changes over the years. Fun to try. We should all try to capture the essence of the old styles and update them with new expressions. This is what all my teachers told me to do as I continue to study..study..study. I never stop growing.
